Sexual Rights, Condoms
and Population Control

Dear Supporter of the Family,Sharon Slater, President

I just returned from participating in the very successful African World Congress of Families: African Dialogue on Civilizations in Abuja, Nigeria.  It was a gathering of African government leaders and heads of pro-family organizations as well as experts from around the world who came together to strategize on how to protect the traditional family in Africa.

Delegates came from as far as Ghana, Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as from the United States and the Netherlands, to present papers on a variety of family topics.  Most of the presentations centered on how the sexual rights agenda perpetuated by the West is causing the breakdown of the African family.

Several speakers placed great emphasis on the monumental failure of condom programs in preventing HIV/ AIDS, and statistics and studies were presented showing that condom promotion actually exacerbates the spread of HIV/AIDS.  This may seem counterintuitive, since we know condoms can provide at least partial protection against AIDS.  However, as several expert presenters made clear, condoms fail to lower HIV/ AIDS infection rates because condoms have high failure rates.

It is unconscionable that UN agencies and organizations such as Planned Parenthood and USAID promote and distribute condoms throughout Africa without disclosing condom failure rates.  As a result, condoms give people a false sense of security.  They engage in what they think is “safe sex” but which in reality can be deadly sex.

Speakers pointed out that promoting condoms encourages promiscuity, which causes more unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections such as HIV/AIDS.  And of course, sexual promiscuity contributes significantly to the breakdown of the family.

An important theme driven home by Don Feder, Communications Director for the World Congress, was how the population control agenda that has caused worldwide fertility rates to decline and populations to shrink is leading to the pending economic collapse of many developed nations.  Yet the West is still exporting this failed agenda to developing nations by pressuring them to legalize abortion and promote and distribute condoms.

At this conference, Family Watch gathered many signatures from pro-family African leaders for our “I Stand for the Family” petition.  Virtually all the participants were proudly wearing the bright yellow “I Stand for the Family” buttons given to each signer.  Moving forward we will be able to work with these petition signers to help strengthen the traditional family in Africa.  Nigerian Senator Akaette, who chaired one of the sessions, requested that our buttons be distributed throughout the Nigerian Ministry of Women which she oversees.

Following my speech, several organizations requested to be formally affiliated with Family Watch.  I was also interviewed by a Nigerian newspaper, and excerpts from my speech were featured on Nigerian television. (Much of my speech was taken from two chapters in my upcoming book, Stand for the Family. Click here to read the speech.)

Following the conference, I had a video interview with key conference participants who provided powerful material for a documentary Family Watch is producing.  I also met with a Nigerian Prince and Princess, a beautiful couple who had sold all of their worldly goods to start a marriage ministry.  They work with over 50 different denominations to help strengthen African families.  In addition to committing to promote our petition, this couple was excited to get a copy of my upcoming book, which they said was worth a million dollars to them.  They will use it to counteract the efforts of activist groups that are convincing African women not to marry or to have babies or to abort them if they become pregnant.

And finally, to top off everything else, on the flight back home, I sat next to an Arabic translator for the U.S. government on her way home from Iraq.  She offered to translate our materials in Arabic during her downtime.  On my other side sat a fraud investigator who offered to help me do research on the UN and create flow charts to show more clearly how the sexual rights activists are manipulating the UN.

We congratulate Theresa Okafor of the Foundation for African Cultural Heritage, who organized the conference.  The event was very successful and will likely pay huge dividends to help protect the family in Africa and worldwide!

Sincerely,
Sharon Slater

We Urgently Need Your Help!

We have never faced greater challenges to the family and family values than we do now and there is no doubt these challenges will only increase in the months ahead.  Not only do we face more threats at the UN than ever before but at the national level we are fighting to defend marriage in the U.S., prevent the liberalization of abortion and dealing with other issues as well.  As a result, our budget is stretched to the breaking point.

Please help in this effort to defend the family and family values by making the most generous contribution you can.  Contributions are tax-deductible for U.S. taxpayers and any amount you contribute will be used effectively and efficiently.  You can easily make a secure contribution on line here or print out a form to mail in a contribution.

Have We Gone MAD?

Bizarre, real-life examples that make us wonder. . . Have We Gone MAD?

Penguin and Bear It

Homosexual “rights” activists have become increasingly visible of late, but they are beginning to turn up in some unexpected places.

Like…the zoo.

The Bremerhaven Zoo in north Germany has six male penguins who have displayed homosexual tendencies.  The plan is to bring in four extra female penguins from Sweden to see if the male penguins (who have tried to mate with each other and incubate stones instead of eggs) are really experiencing same-sex attraction or whether they have bonded because there just aren’t enough females to go around.

Homosexual activists are outraged at the experiment.

Why?  They insist that penguins have the right to form relationships without humans getting in the way.

But we think the zoo has the right idea.  It would be a great idea to find out why these caged birds “swing.”
