Beware of “Sexuality” Education for Children!

Dear Supporter of the Family,

In their new report, “Stand and Deliver,” International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) reveals their plans to work with the youth to “recast sex and sexuality as a positive force for change and development” and as “a source of pleasure.”  The report states that “comprehensive sexuality education” for children is essential for their “self-esteem,” helps them to “develop satisfying and pleasurable sexual lives,” and allows them to “challenge traditional gender roles.”

IPPF’s fixation on sexual pleasure, rather than teaching children to abstain from or delay risky sexual behavior, is emerging in “sexuality” education programs being promoted around the world.

Consider the following:

  • As we reported a few months ago, UNESCO, with help from UNICEF, UNFPA, WHO and others, published The International Guidelines on Sexuality Education, which maintains that children have a right to receive instruction in sexual pleasure, masturbation and homosexuality, among other things.  The Guidelines are intended to drive sex education programs in schools worldwide under the guise that this kind of education is needed to prevent unwanted pregnancy, coercive or abusive sexual activity, and sexually transmitted diseases.  Remember, these Guidelines teach that children ages 5 to 8 should understand that “Masturbation is not harmful,” and homosexuals “can raise a child and give it the love it deserves.”  Children ages 9 to12 are taught the “Steps for proper use of condoms” and the “Definition and function of orgasm.”  Teenagers 12 to 15 years of age are taught that “Both men and women can give and receive sexual pleasure with a partner of the same or opposite sex.”  By age 15, adolescents should be aware of “the right to and access to safe abortion.”  See our Policy Brief on the UNESCO Guidelines for more detail.

  • At the request of a foreign official, Family Watch just created a policy brief for government leaders on a graphic “sexuality” education book designed for youth and their educators in the Caribbean Islands entitled “You, Your Life, Your Dreams.” As with the UNESCO Guidelines, the Caribbean manual is riddled with inappropriate explicit materials that ultimately will produce the very consequences they purport to eradicate.  The manual includes graphic drawings of nude adolescents, and instructs children on how to “safely” engage in anal and normal sexual intercourse as well as oral sex.  In addition, this manual encourages the use of sex toys; declares only illegal abortions as unsafe; and lauds the use of condoms.  The manual also undermines parental guidance by stressing that “it is very healthy” to question parents’ beliefs, as youth may want “to take risks . . . and it can be hard to learn much from [parents].”  See FWI Policy Brief.

  • This kind of  twisted sexuality ideology is trickling down to the schools my own children attend in Gilbert, Arizona  In my book, Stand for the Family, I give a sobering example of very inappropriate sexual content in a European history book our daughter was required to read in her high school that condones the story of a man sodomizing a neighbor boy and states that homosexuality was a normal part of gender development throughout European history.  And recently, a bisexual legislator in our state introduced a bill to allow the promotion of homosexuality in the schools as being healthy and normal.  On a related note, as a result of the legalization of same-sex marriage in Massachusetts, the courts there have mandated that parents cannot opt out of homosexual indoctrination given in public schools to children even as young as five.

The “sexuality” education programs being promoted by IPPF and various UN agencies, as well as by SIECUS in the United States and similar groups in other countries around the world, claim that abstinence is an outdated method of protecting against STDs and preventing pregnancies.  They argue that their “comprehensive” programs are the only “evidence based” programs proven by science to be effective.

Based on these kinds of arguments, the current U.S. Administration recently eliminated $170 million in annual federal funding for abstinence programs and instead launched a pregnancy prevention program.  However, now the U.S. government has to deal with a landmark study just published in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, which clearly shows that abstinence-only programs can make a significant difference in delaying teenage sex and were more effective than “comprehensive” sex education programs.  (Read a summary here.)

No matter where you live, you must be aware of what your children and grandchildren are learning in their schools.  If you are not vigilant, they may be receiving highly explicit and inappropriate “sexuality” education without your consent.  If it is not happening already, it may soon be.

Sincerely,
Sharon Slater

We Urgently Need Your Help!

We have never faced greater challenges to the family and family values than we do now and there is no doubt these challenges will only increase in the months ahead.  Not only do we face more threats at the UN than ever before but at the national level we are fighting to defend marriage in the U.S., prevent the liberalization of abortion and dealing with other issues as well.  As a result, our budget is stretched to the breaking point.

Please help in this effort to defend the family and family values by making the most generous contribution you can.  Contributions are tax-deductible for U.S. taxpayers and any amount you contribute will be used effectively and efficiently.  You can easily make a secure contribution on line here or print out a form to mail in a contribution.

International Planned Parenthood Pushes "Sexual Rights," Abortion for Children.  The Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute reports that the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is demanding that children as young as ten years old receive “comprehensive sexuality education.”  IPPF’s report, Stand and Deliver, insists that children worldwide have the right to receive such education, which is often graphic and very explicit, and access to sexuality education and services should be “free from administrative restrictions and obstacles,” such as parental consent.  Read more here.

Study Finds Abstinence-only Sex Ed Most Effective at Delaying Sex Among Youths.  According to the study published in the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, only one-third of the sixth and seventh grade students who received eight hours of abstinence instruction had sexual intercourse within two years of the class.  More than half of the students who received instruction about safe sex and condom use had intercourse.  More than 40 percent of the students who received either eight hours or 12 hours of instruction with both abstinence education and safe sex education reported having sex at the two-year mark.  The findings are considered to be highly significant.  Read more here.

Have We Gone MAD?

Bizarre, real-life examples that make us wonder. . . Have We Gone MAD?

Bump “Bump”

WARNING: Graphic description contained herein that may be very offensive to some readers.

Anything goes.

Absolutely anything.

Technology has provided a way for any humanoid to take any random idea and run with it.  Whether the idea is even worthy of the run.

Case in point: “Bump” the show.

“Bump” is a new Web-based, semi-reality show.  Actresses portray pregnant women contemplating abortion who are trying to get on a reality show.  The actresses aren’t really pregnant, the doctor isn’t really a doctor, and the reality show isn’t really a show.  Got that?

What is real is that the public is encouraged to join the debate and will determine the script and who will and will not get the pretend abortion.

Abortion is the most emotional, hotly debated topic in history.  But I think I know what would end the debate forever and end the run of “Bump” the show.

If the world were to be shown the barbaric partial birth abortion procedure, this is what they would see--A a full term, preborn infant, inches from birth, who has the base of her skull pierced with a sharp surgical instrument.  Then the infant’s brain is suctioned out of her skull.  After that, viewers would watch as the infant’s skull is compressed and the once perfect, now-dead baby is delivered and thrown in the trash with the banana peels and coffee grounds.

This is reality.

And it happens every day.
